6 Best Areas For Expats To Live In Sharjah

Located north of Dubai, Sharjah is the center of culture in the United Arab Emirates. It is known to house some of the best museums and art galleries in the country, which makes it an interesting place for anyone to visit. Thanks to its laidback and easygoing lifestyle, as well as a more affordable cost of living compared to Dubai or Abu Dhabi, Sharjah is also an attractive destination for expats. Additionally, the city boasts numerous activities and entertainment venues to keep people of all ages entertained. As the third-largest city in the country, there are plenty of residential areas to choose from. Here are some of the best areas for expats to live in Sharjah.

Al Taawun

Situated near the Dubai-Sharjah border, Al Taawun is a bustling district with beautiful waterfront apartments. Here, you will find numerous mid and high-rise buildings with apartments for sale and rent. The apartment buildings are usually equipped with shops and supermarkets on the ground floor. It is one of the most popular areas for expats as well as for real estate investors. Although it is a popular area, the apartments in the area are still relatively affordable and family-friendly. Moreover, the area provides a healthy outdoor living and lively street life. Al Taawun is the perfect place to live for families or singletons who want to live in close-knit communities.

Al Nahda

Strategically located between Sharjah and Dubai and due to its location, many people find it convenient to live in Al Nahda in Sharjah and work in Dubai. Besides, the area offers significantly lower rents than those in Dubai, which allow its residents to enjoy the best of both emirates. This area is home to different kinds of apartment units in high-rise towers for both families, couples, or singles. It is well-developed and well facilitated. You will find various medical centers, schools, supermarkets, and entertainment venues within the area.

Al Qasimia

Named after the royal family that has ruled Sharjah since 1600 AD, Al Qasimia is one of the most popular areas for expats to live. The area has affordable apartments suitable for singles and families. The apartments are mostly equipped with the best amenities and facilities, including spacious bedrooms, parking facilities, and security systems. Within Al Qasimia, you will find a number of malls, supermarkets, schools, and medical centers. It is also surrounded by friendly neighborhood and tourist attractions, including the Sharjah Beach, Al Majaz Waterfront, and King Faisal Mosque.

Muwaileh

Located on the outskirts of Sharjah, Muwaileh is a quieter suburb compared to other areas in the city. The area consists of low-rise buildings, ranging from three to seven floors. It is particularly known for being the most budget-friendly area. Although the neighborhood is slightly less developed compared to other areas in downtown Sharjah, it is a popular choice for families because the area has some of the best schools in Sharjah, including the Delta English School and Brilliant International Private School. There are some supermarkets within the area that sell all kinds of products for your monthly groceries. The most popular supermarkets are Nesto Hypermarket and Al Mawal Supermarket.

Al Majaz

Al Majaz is a busy district located along the Buhaira Corniche. It is popular among renters and investors alike due to its scenic and serene views overlooking the clear water. This up-and-coming area is now one of the most desired neighborhoods in the city. It is peaceful, family-friendly, and well-developed. The area has plenty of spaces for its residents to do outdoor activities. Within the premises, schools, nurseries, supermarkets, restaurant, and malls are available. Since Al Majaz is mainly developed for tourism, people who live here are surrounded by tourist attractions, including the Mamzar Beach, the Eye of the Emirates, and Al Majaz Waterfront.

Al Khan

Famous as one of the prime waterfront areas in Sharjah, Al Khan is also known as one of the most established communities of the city. Expats can choose mid to high-rise luxury apartment buildings that come in various sizes and types. Its close proximity to Dubai results in higher rents compared to some other areas in the city. However, it is packed with all the best amenities. Supermarkets are plentiful, schools with the international curriculum are available, and reputable clinics can be found easily within the area. It also has several fun places for entertainment, shopping, and outdoor activities.
